Game is in artwork
The beautiful game has inspired some pretty beautiful artwork.
Prairie Rose Clayton is a soccer nut who has used her passion for the game as creative fuel to make banners for MLS and USMNT players and soccer campaigns. Most recently she created a banner for the US Bid for the World cup.
If you've been to a Revolution or US World Cup qualifier, there's a good chance you've seen her handiwork hanging from the stadium railings.
The banners have garnered the attention of fellow fans, the media, and players - some of whom have even requested banners of their own. Revs star Shalrie Joseph actually approached Prairie to create t-shirts of her banner designs for him and his youth teams. For Prairie, this was a huge honor: "The guy whose shirt I wear to a game every week tracked me down to tell me he's a fan and wants to wear my shirt".
Interacting with spirited fans and players is what originally drew Prairie to soccer.
"Accessibility's a huge part of the reason I love the sport. There's a big sense of community, too. American soccer fandom is friendly and well-networked. You show up for a few games, meet some people at tailgates, and pretty soon you've got buddies all over the country who can show you around town if you're on a road trip."
If you're a fan and have a particular skill or passion you'd like to share with the soccer community or would just like to get more involved in the US soccer movement, Prairie has some words of wisdom for you.
"My philosophy is this: Get out to a game, any game, get out there, get involved, meet people. Go to a bar viewing, go to a live game, make a banner, buy someone a beer, make a friend. There's so much cool stuff out there that's ours for the taking...what we have in American soccer is too much fun to let yourself get held back. Win or lose, get out and make some memories."
Good advice Prairie and thank you for all of your hard work and support.
