The Leaderboard
What a week for Go USA Bid!
While, US Soccer's week was bittersweet, it has translated into extraordinary growth in support for the USA Bid for the World Cup. In the past ten days, we have added 250,000 supporters to the bid — and we're closing in on 750,000 voices saying "The Game is in US."
To put that in perspective, we started the World Cup with about 400,000 supporters and challenged you to help us grow support to half a million by the end of the World Cup. You blew by that number so quickly that we will be closer to a million than to a half a million by the next bid-city leaderboard.
With that many new supporters, it should not be a surprise that there has been some significant movement on this week's bid-city leaderboard.
For the first time since May 20, we have a new leader! Congratulations, Miami for taking first place away from Houston. Miami grew their support 185 percent to jump from third place to first.
Miami wasn't the only city to move up the list and add significant support:
- Los Angeles grew their support 240 percent to move from 11th place to 3rd;
- New York-New Jersey grew their support 201 percent to move from 7th place to 4th; and,
- Washington DC grew their support 145 percent to move from 12th place to 8th.
Just like last week, all eighteen cities made huge strides in building their support. Our nationwide movement is stronger than ever!
Our work certainly isn't done — if you've enjoyed this World Cup as much as we have tell your friends to sign the petition and support your favorite city.
