US 2 - El Salvador 1

Last night, the U.S. Men’s National Team defeated El Salvador for the third straight time on the back of a Sacha Kljestan game-winning goal in stoppage time.

Kljestan took a pass from Brian Ching — who scored the Yanks first goal of the evening — to net the winner. It was first international goal since the hat trick he posted in his debut against Sweden in January 2009.

Jonathan Bornstein — normally a midfielder — played center defense and was given the honor of wearing the captain’s armband for the first time with the National Team.

The match served as a showcase for several players on the fringe of making Bob Bradley’s squad for this summer’s FIFA World Cup™. Kljestan and Ching helped themselves by scoring, along with Heath Pearce who may have been the most consistent American in the match.

The USMNT travels to Amsterdam to take on third-ranked Netherlands at the Amsterdam Arena on March 3. This game will be televised live (2:30 ET) on ESPN2 and Galavision.
