Soccer in Denver

Denver has a strong tradition in all sports - including soccer.

The state of Colorado has over 65,000 registered players in the Colorado Youth Soccer Association, and many more in adult leagues across the state.

The Colorado Rapids were one of the charter members of Major League Soccer and have been a successful team ever since. The Rapids' home, Dick's Sporting Goods Park, is the world's largest soccer stadium & fields complex.

About INVESCO Field

Completed in 2001, INVESCO Field is located in the Sun Valley Neighborhood in Denver.

With a seating capacity of 76,125, the stadium has played host to the Colorado Rapids from 2001-2006, including the Rapids' largest-ever record crowds, the Denver Broncos (NFL) since 2001, the Denver Outlaws (MLL) since 2006, and has hosted many international soccer matches. In addition, the stadium was the site of the 2002 US Men's National Team vs. Mexico World Cup send-off, the 2006 AFC Championship Game and the 2008 Democratic National Convention (site of Obama's acceptance speech).

A dedicated light rail station serves the stadium.

About Denver, CO

Denver offers the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and urban sophistication.

That is the duality local residents love about the Mile High City.

With snowcapped peaks providing a spectacular backdrop, Denver is as refined as it is laid-back.

It's a place where aerospace engineers rub elbows with rock climbers at local brewpubs (the most of any city in the nation), at art festivals, or while taking a stroll in their favorite pedestrian mall.

And with 300 days of sunshine per year, it's easy to see why people fall in love with Denver the first time they visit.

Denver is "Sports City USA"; the city has more professional sports teams (8) than any other American city.

The mild climate surprises many people; don't be fooled by the occasional winter flurry - Denver is nestled at the base of the Rockies, not in them.

When you wake up in Denver, adventure awaits.

If you're looking for a chic and sophisticated jaunt, visit any of the hundreds of museums and galleries that make Denver the Arts Capital of the West.

Or indulge your inner shopper or foodie, then spend a blissful afternoon at a spa. Bike paths throughout the city are a great way to explore major attractions, or escape for a day-trip into the majestic Rockies.
